New plays by Mark Ravenhill, Debbie Tucker Green and Rory Mullarkey feature in the Royal Court Theatre’s new season.
Artistic director Vicky Featherstone will direct a new play by Ravenhill called The Cane in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, from December.
The main house programme also includes Ear for Eye, written and directed by Tucker Green and produced in association with Barbara Broccoli.
Mullarkey makes his Royal Court debut with Pity, also in the main space, which is directed by Sam Pritchard.
Poet, musician and dancer Deborah ‘Debris’ Stevenson presents a new work later this year in a co-commission between the Royal Court and 14-18 Now, in association with Nottingham Playhouse and Leicester Curve.
It is part of the wider Represent project, a series of works inspired by the 1918 Representation of the People Act.
In the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs, new work includes Instructions for Correct Assembly by Thomas Eccleshare, Anthony Neilson’s The Prudes, which he also directs, Robert Alan Evans’ The Woods and One for Sorrow by Cordelia Lynn and directed by James Macdonald.
Elsewhere, Belgian theatremaker Lies Pauwels will create a new piece, Happiness Always, for LIFT 2018, while RashDash’s Helen Goalen and Abbi Greenland will collaborate with playwright with Ellie Kendrick on Hole.
Director Ola Ince will also programme the Site, the theatre’s third space that is adjacent to its main building, in the autumn.
