Choir Boy. Royal Court. This play attempts two issues: homosexuality & black music. It deals with both badly. A debate about of slave music is raised by a laughably obvious theatrical device: a philosophy class. However, the play is fantastic. Who cares about the hamfisted dialogue & philosophy when the music is better than 80% of the West End's sing-a-longs? Your spine will tingle into paralysis when the boys' voices intermingle. It's immersive. So, as Eminem said, lose yourself in the music.
